MATCH REPORT | Stalemate away to Real Sociedad (1-1)

Lino cancels out Real Sociedad's opener to come away with a point

Valencia CF travelled up north to San Sebastián to face Real Sociedad on Sunday the 6th of November at 4:15 pm kick-off time at the Reale Arena on Matchday 13 of LaLiga.

Valencia CF had a slow start to the game as the first opportunity fell to Illarramendi, but Giorgi managed to keep it out. Alas,Real Sociedad found themselves in front in the 12th minute following a hapless Hugo Guillamón own goal.

Real Sociedad were reduced to ten men after Aritz Elustondo's clumsy challenge on Lino.

Valencia CF made their numerical advantage pay by growing into the game.

Soon after, Samuel Lino got Valencia CF back on level terms with a powerful low drive from the edge of the box and into the bottom corner following a nifty Guillamón tee-up.

Moments later, Paulista was subbed off with injury with Cenk Özcakar coming on in his stead.

Valencia CF came mighty close to going in front over the half-hour mark through a Marcos André header which was tipped over the crossbar by Remiro.

Eray Cömert produced a last-ditch clearance off the line headed clearance at the other end to keep the scoreline level at 1-1.

The remainder of the half saw a hard-fought end-to-end spell with both sides looking to take the lead before the break.

The first half finished all square. 1-1 at the break with all to play for in the second half.

The same script followed in the second half with both sides tussling for the ball and breaking forward at every opportunity.

The first meaningful Valencia CF chance of the second half fell to Marcos André who rattled the crossbar with a powerful hit after a quickly taken free-kick by Almeida.

Gattuso shuffled his pack with a double like-for-like change with Guillamón and Marcos André making way for Nico and Hugo Duro on the hour mark.

Valencia CF dictated possession enjoying further forays forward whilst penning the opposition inside their box with twenty minutes plus stoppage time left to play.

Gattuso introduced another double change with Yunus Musah and Justin Kluivert making way for Foulquier and Samu Castillejo.

Samu Castillejo almost made an instant impact after getting on the end of an inviting Hugo Duro cross but his effort on the stretch blazed over the bar.

Valencia CF kept on pushing for the winning goal, alas the game finished points shared between Valencia CF and Real Sociedad.

Valencia CF will welcome Real Betis in midweek looking to return to winning ways in front of the Mestalla crowd before the World Cup break.
